In "Between Showers," Chaplin plays a character known simply as "The Masher," a dapper and somewhat bumbling individual who attempts to assist a young woman (played by Ford Sterling) by holding an umbrella over her head while she navigates a muddy street. However, complications ensue when another man (played by Chester Conklin) also tries to offer his umbrella, leading to a comical rivalry between the two suitors.
